The most exciting news that we have to share is that the Red Neocaridina shrimp colony is thriving. We were able to catch this process live on camera and you can see it on our social media pages. Although there have been some setbacks with the transportation, hydra, and even planaria the shrimp colony has given birth and we have three more berried females ready to go. The colony tank is being medicated right now with a medication called NO-Planaria to try and combat these pests.

Second, thanks to Cece, we plan to collaborate with Horace Mann Elementary School in an effort to provide shrimp for their classrooms so they can teach about the life cycle of invertebrates. Neocaridina shrimp are a great option because in the varieties with clear exoskeletons such as Snowball Shrimp, Cherry Reds, and Cherry Yellows the ovaries and fertilized eggs are very visible. The molting and mating process happen rapidly but frequently but allowing students to observe the life cycle of one of these beautiful creatures is a gift in and of itself.

Some other news, the team is fully active on social media check us out on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube for shrimp content and DM us with any questions or comments. Lastly, the team received some skittles shrimp from a friend and these shrimp will likely live with our cull/skittles tank to hopefully provide new and exciting designs or patterns in the future.
